GUIDED Bike Tours

     Your tour will start out with a basic lesson during which we will go over basic bicycle safety and then help you get fitted to your bike. Pedaling on the flat land in the country side; smelling the honeysuckle, the forest and the fresh plowed fields in season!  We will look for the formerly endangered Delmarva Fox Squirrel, the Pileated Woodpecker, turtles, and eagles.  Take a short visit to Blackwater National Wildlife Visitor Center where you will see eagle nests, herons, osprey and beautiful marsh scenery as you coast through the back roads of Dorchester County.  Our guides will lead you on an unforgettable experience of the area filling you in on local history and culture along the way!

     Our guided tours include :: all necessary equipment, guide, and entrance fees.  Prices are per person; children 10 and under are half price.  All bike tours begin at our Blackwater location. Tours depart at 9 am, and 1 pm (unless otherwise noted) by reservation only.  All tours take place on flat, paved surfaces and are catered to the needs and ability of the group.

BLACKWATER WILDLIFE REFUGE

BWNR Tours depart from our Blackwater Location and within a short distance you will be on the Refuge Wildlife Drive.  This scenic tour will take you through the diverse landscape of the refuge including marshes, hardwood and loblolly pine forests, as well as open farmland, all from the comfort of a flat, paved surface!  This is a two hour tour with a stop at the visitors center

LAYTON'S CHANCE WINERY

Enjoy a 2 hour ride through the wildlife filled countryside until you arrive back at Layton's chance winery where you will experience a tour of the FACILITY and wine tasting.  You will receive a bottle of wine (excluding all reserve wines) and a wine glaSS to take home!  check out laytonschance.com to learn more about our local vineyard!  this tour is approx. 3 hours long and departs at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm

Marsh road

Dorchester county is known for its vast expanses of brackish water marshes dotted with lonely loblolly pine islands.  The marsh road tour takes you through the heart of this incredible ecological gem teaming with wildlife, birds, eagles, turtles, and many others that call the marsh their home.  Your guide will fill you in on the local history and lore of the area.  Bring your camera for this one!  Tour is Approx. 2 hours
